Junxin Chen is a postdoctoral associate at LIGO MIT. He received his PhD degree at Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen on quantum optomechanics. Junxin’s expertise lies in interferometric sensing of mechanical motion, the measurement technology used in gravitational wave detectors like LIGO.
In addition to developing technologies to enhance the performance of gravitational wave detectors, Junxin also seeks to utilize mechanical systems to probe some of the biggest questions in modern physics, such as the composition of dark matter, the quantum nature of gravity, and the transition from quantum mechanics to classical mechanics with growing system size.
