The Dynamical Evolution of Exoplanet Systems Over Billions of Years
Exoplanet systems are expected to evolve with time as they age. In most cases though, the dynamical evolution of exoplanet systems over billion-year timescales are hard to directly observe. I'll first describe the variety of ways that data from Gaia and/or the James Webb Space Telescope can be used to provide accurate and precise age inferences for both individual exoplanet systems and exoplanet populations. I'll then highlight the impacts of these age inferences on models of planet formation and evolution with particular focus on giant planet systems, ultra-short-period planet systems, and mean-motion resonant systems.
