About
MKI Information Technology Group
Unlike most other Departments, Labs, and Centers across MIT, MKI operates and maintains its own IT infrastructure, independent from IS&T.
This includes its own subnet, computer systems, and IoT devices, enabling the IT infrastructure to be matched to research requirements across a wide range of astrophysics simulations and data analyses while also providing additional protections for our data. A direct connection to MIT’s High Performance Computing infrastructure, including a large number of priority nodes on the Engaging Cluster and connections to Satori, Openmind, the Lincoln Laboratory Supercloud, and others, exists alongside specialized systems for our major research programs. This enables an ideal combination of access to large-scale, high-performance computing environments and specialized, protected services for NSF and NASA-sponsored programs.
