Dorotea Macri
NW22-287
Dorotea is a PhD student in the LIGO group working with Professor Nergis Mavalavala on high precision fiber metrology for observing the interface between quantum mechanics and gravity. She arrived at MIT in 2022 after receiving a BS in mechanical engineering and a minor in Physics from UC Berkeley, where she worked on tensegrity robotics and control systems in the Agogino group and NV center magnetometry in the Salahuddin group. Dorotea also spent a summer with the Chu group at ETH Zurich working on instrumentation for quantum optimechanics experiments. She is broadly interested in instrumentation for both fundamental physics and real world applications.
