Elliot Davies
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Elliot Davies is a postdoctoral research associate in Lina Necib’s group, interested in all things related to the Milky Way but primarily its utility as an astrophysical probe for dark matter. This includes exploring both the stellar and dark-sector content of objects like stellar streams, globular clusters, and dwarf galaxies using computational, analytical and machine learning methods.
He conducted his PhD under the supervision of Vasily Belokurov and Wyn Evans at the University of Cambridge, successfully defending in June 2025. His PhD work focused on combining the chemical and kinematic properties of stars in our home Galaxy to uncover the history of its formation, mostly using data from the Gaia space telescope. Prior to his graduate work, Elliot received a master’s degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Edinburgh and an undergraduate degree in Astrophysical Science from Princeton University. Up until the age of 18, Elliot was raised in North Wales. He is passionate about access to education for low-income students and other underrepresented groups.
