Eric Oelker
Research Scientist 2
NW22-285
Eric is a research scientist working with the MIT LIGO Laboratory. He helps lead the effort to improve the performance of the LIGO detectors using squeezed states of light. Together with Dr Xinghui Yin, Eric also helps supervise Prof. Nergis Mavalvala’s quantum measurement group. Prior to rejoining MIT in 2023, he was a lecturer at the University of Glasgow and lead the cryogenic interferometry prototype at the Glasgow Institute for Gravitational Research between 2020-2022. From 2016-2020 he was a postdoc in Prof. Jun Ye’s group at JILA working on optical atomic clocks and precision laser stabilization using cryogenic silicon reference cavities. From 2009-2016 Eric was a graduate student at MIT working on developing a squeezed light source for Advanced LIGO.
