Marine Prunier
Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow
As an MIT Kavli Institute postdoctoral fellow since October 2026, Marine works on how feedback from supermassive black holes shapes the multiphase gas in halos, ranging from galaxy clusters to individual galaxies. She combines observations with cosmological simulations to study these processes across a wide range of physical scales and cosmic time. Her work involves current and future X-ray missions and projects, including Chandra, XRISM, AXIS, and NewAthena, as well as simulation collaborations such as Learning the Universe.
Originally from France, she completed her PhD at the Université de Montréal in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany, where she worked on AGN-driven cavities, shocks, and turbulence in real and simulated galaxy clusters with Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo and Annalisa Pillepich.
Outside of research, Marine is very happy to talk about cinema, and to hike tall mountains.
