Saugata Barat

Saugata Barat obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam where he worked on atmospheric characterization of extremely young transiting planets using HST and JWST. Saugata did his Bachelors and Masters in Physics from Presidency University in India.

During his postdoctoral research at MKI, Saugata will focus on understanding the origins of gas giants through atmospheric comparisons within a transiting multi-planet system using JWST observations. He will also continue to work on young transiting planet atmospheres to understand their formation and early evolution using JWST as well as with ground-based and space-based instruments.
