Sofia Alvarez-Lopez
NW22-269
Sofía is a graduate student working with Professor Salvatore Vitale on gravitational-wave data analysis. Her research focuses on using Bayesian methods to study the population of LIGO sources, particularly black holes and neutron stars, as well as their properties and evolution. She has previously worked on detector characterization and data quality efforts to assist in gravitational-wave discoveries for the LIGO-Virgo collaboration. Sofia is originally from Colombia, and double-majored in Physics and Systems and Computing Engineering at Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, CO).
