Vera Berger
Vera is a PhD student interested in high-energy astrophysics and multiwavelength observations of transients. She studies how stars change on the order of seconds to days, and what those rapid changes reveal about the structures of stars and the impact of their radiation on the surrounding environment. Vera has focused on ultraviolet observations of stellar flares and fluid simulations of their underlying plasma physics. Before joining MIT, Vera earned a BA in mathematics and physics from Pomona College and an MPhil in scientific computing from the University of Cambridge.
